VOLUNTARY WITHDRAWAL OF INFANT COLD & COUGH MEDICINES

Today, drug makers announced a withdrawal of oral infant cold and cough medications following reports of several overdoses since 1969. The recall affects medicines intended for children under the age of 2. The following are being withdrawn:
Dimetapp(R) Decongestant Plus Cough Infant Drops
Dimetapp(R) Decongestant Infant Drops
Little Colds(R) Decongestant Plus Cough
Little Colds(R) Multi-Symptom Cold Formula
PEDIACARE(R) Infant Drops Decongestant (containing pseudoephedrine)
PEDIACARE(R) Infant Drops Decongestant & Cough (containing pseudoephedrine)
PEDIACARE(R) Infant Dropper Decongestant (containing phenylephrine)
PEDIACARE(R) Infant Dropper Long-Acting Cough
PEDIACARE(R) Infant Dropper Decongestant & Cough (containing phenylephrine)
Robitussin(R) Infant Cough DM Drops
Triaminic(R) Infant & Toddler Thin Strips(R) Decongestant
Triaminic(R) Infant & Toddler Thin Strips(R) Decongestant Plus Cough
TYLENOL(R) Concentrated Infants' Drops Plus Cold
TYLENOL(R) Concentrated Infants' Drops Plus Cold & Cough.

You have a great blog! I just stumbled upon it as I was searching about info on the Key to the Cure event at Saks. I'm glad to see this post. It's scary stuff that we've been giving our kids and didn't even realize it. I don't know how many times I've given my kids prescribed cough medicine with codeine in it and now codeine is a big no-no after a breastfeeding baby died from an overdose. (Apparently we moms need to stay away from codeine during childbirth, but I'm sure many haven't heard about this.) Thanks so much for spreading the word!
